Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The waitresses were very nice but it was the most bland Mexican food I've ever had. Not impressed.

Food was average. Tasted better than it looked. Server was decent but not super friendly. We live very close but sadly won't be coming back. We also waited 30 mins after we finished for the server to take our credit card. They were not busy at all. Do not get the booth with the register behind you. During the entire meal I had to listen to each server loudly type each order in. No fun and very annoying.

I still enjoy the food here immensely, but it is becoming a bit pricey. $10 for a quesadilla without a side of rice or beans seems a tad too much. While I simply love the fresh made salsa with chips, I'm finding it a bit hard to get beyond the prices. Tonight's table was served a pulled beef quesadilla, veggie tacos(which were they same price as ones served with meat), and a hamburger(my dad insists that they have the best burgers in town...but they charge extra for pickles) and French fries(my daughter eats 3 foods and this would be one of the 3). Our waitress tonight needed a lesson in efficiency so that along with each meal being $10-$12, I would have to say Amigos need to shape itself up. They've gotten new menus to go with the higher prices, but there's doesn't seem to be "bang for buck". Salsa as usual was lovely but I had to beg the waitress for more. And don't get me wrong my quesadilla was was pretty damn great but, my dollop of guacamole keeps getting smaller and so does the dollop of sour cream. So I say slap a side of rice on that bad boy and make me want to spend $10 + tip + the drive there.

This is Tex-Mex not Mexican! We hit Amigo's the other night for the first time in a decade. It was clean, consistent, reasonable, flavorful, filling, and friendly. Everything you could expect for the price. Of course endless tortilla chips and three degrees of fresh salsa. Go for the margarita HH. If not staving, split an entree. Viva Amigo's.
(3)Yulissa M.
I come here often for Lunch.. place is not too bad. Its not excellent either though. Salsa is a bit watery but i mix it with the habenero sauce. I really like their taco salad. the chicken is well seasoned and they customize my salad to my liking. i also order the jalapeno poppers - i just love these no matter where im having them. have tried some of the other items but not super impressed by anything.
(3)Janene H.
I hear a lot of talk about how good Amigo's USED to be; there are even awards at the entrance of the dining room that remind you of this. The inside was a little dark and dank but still comfortable. Service was SUPER FAST but the food wasn't always correct. A taco that should have been crunchy came out soft and we were shorted a drink. Corrections were handled quickly and with apologies, no problem. I was actually shocked at how fast food came out; I wished I'd have timed it! Food was ok, nothing that would get me a craving to come back. Warm chips and salsa come out when you are seated and if you ask for hot salsa be prepared, my companion said it was VERY hot. The food was for the most part uninspired and bland. Their margaritas were a disappointment also. If you're in the mood for Mexican/Tex Mex there are other places nearby that do better.
(3)Antonio R.
Not bad. Need some Mexican's in the kitchen. So the food can really have some good taste.
(3)Natalia H.
Me and my bf eat at this place 2-3 times a week. I usually order Santa Fee dinner, that comes with taco, beef and cheese enchilada, chile relleno, rice/ beans and queso with guacamole on the side. The food is always fresh and tasty. I absolutely love their salsa( if u like spice, ask for a little cup of habanero sauce). The salsa got some nice chunks of tomatoes, onions and cilantro and u can actually see , the ingredients in their salsa( not like in other mex places). Really good casual place to grab a bite.

Like most of previous reviewers stated, this place used to be great and now isn't. The last time I was here I ordered a burrito and wasn't happy with it at all. Plus, it came with some gooey and weird-looking white queso that tasted weird. (I ordered that as a topping, thinking it'd be interesting and tasty; it wasn't). I ate half or less of it and brought the remainder home with me, but the next day when I looked at it after removing it from the fridge, it looked gross and inedible. I just threw the rest out. I've never seen the weird-looking employees, but perhaps they're still there and I just didn't notice them. The last time I was here, my mother and I had a female server and she was okay. Nothing special, but nothing wrong either. Our orders came out as expected, so no problems there either. I guess the reason I'm giving this two stars is that it's just not the same as it was in years past (this place was REALLY GOOD in the late 90s/early 2000s) and the food, as I said, is just ... weird. I don't know. That burrito just didn't do anything at all for me during my last visit and, as a matter of fact, it actually made me not want to come back here. If I do come back, I definitely won't be trying a burrito. And, whatever you do ... don't order that white queso sauce. It just looks and tastes very odd. It's like a slimier and oddly-colored Velveeta substitute. And I hate Velveeta, but I hate this white queso sauce even more. Three stars, at the very most, for this place, though it's definitely closer to a 2, so that's what I'm giving it. This place, as some comments in other reviews suggest, needs an overhaul.

Wish I could give this 0 stars. Very sad to say this, as I've been coming back multiple times... yet have been disappointed I went in for lunch at around 2 on July 2nd with my mother, and we were the only ones in, but then again it was Wednesday lunch. There was only one server (Pat? Pam?) at the time and she was NOT happy to be here by any means. We were greeted warmly at the door and given a nice booth, but it was so sad to see such a stark contrast from the friendliness of the host to the unfriendly demeanor of the server. She practically threw chips and salsa on the table. I ordered queso blaco, which tasted funny the second it cooled. It was sweet and it hardened fast. Their "chips" were broken taco shells, so maybe that added to the weird tang of the cheese? NOT worth the $5. Moving on, we ordered a vegetarian burrito for my mother and a chicken fajita for myself. We had a few basic questions about the menu (what's vegetarian etc.) but the server huffed and rolled her eyes every time. Pat, we asked three questions... is that too much too handle? When we got our food, we were beyond disappointed. The chicken came out sizzling but was soggy as soon as it was set down. The flavor? Nothing. There was a lack of seasoning, it was just soggy meat with zero flavor. When I mentioned it to the server, she shrugged and said that's for fajitas and to add toppings. I tried, but I couldn't get over the soggy chicken. My mom's burrito had raw, undercooked vegetables. It was cold in the center, perhaps the vegetables were frozen? We let the server know, who apologized for the style of cooking, then flew off. Nothing. She else dropped off the check. We asked for the manager but they didn't appear. No other servers/hosts/managers were there, just the one server. My mother ate the side while I made myself fajitas minus the dry/soggy chicken. I understand that as a young adult I may be shrugged off, but there was no excuse for behaving that way to my mother. Tijuana flats has better tex-mex than this place, and that's sad to have to say that. We walked out paying $30 for a glorified wrap and rice. I would not send my worse enemy to eat here!! Be warned: they also do not take Discover. That sucked.
(1)Cristina D.
There's much better Mexican food out there than this. Everything we ordered needed some more seasonings(Steak fajitas and Enchilada). Their salsa could also use some more spices. You do get a lot of food for your money, which is really nice nowadays. The service was wonderful, and everyone seemed to get their food quickly. The owner was there when we went so that made it nice. He also came around to talk to all the tables-which gave it a nice neighborhood feel.
(3)Derek G.
I love this place! The salsa is great a plentiful. The food is OKAY. The service is pretty good. I think they might want to try and be more MEX and less TEX.
(4)Samantha A.
I really really tried to like this place. The service is good and quick, but the food just isn't very good. It's all just kind of bland. They do, however, have buy 1 get 1 free margaritas on Wednesdays, which is a great deal.
(2)Alex D.
I have been coming here for years. Great food, great prices, and a friendly staff! The Liberation Combination Platter is my favorite. Paired up with a few margarita's, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Leslie S.
The reason I ate here was because they're dog friendly. They gave Lola a huge bowl of water. We ordered combination fajitas for two. The steak was cooked perfectly at medium. The chicken wasn't dry at all. The meat was over green peppers and grilled onions that had just a kick of spiciness. The salsa wasn't spicy at all but was extremely flavorful. This is a place worth trying again.
(4)Nawal B.
Food is an okay. They are very friendly, they have a nice salsa and chips, and they serve you very quick.
(5)Hannah M.
I went here for lunch with co-workers today. I ordered the lunch chimichangas which came with two mini tortillas, rice and beans, and queso. When it says mini, it means mini. This review is bigger than those chimichangas. Nothing tasted particularly bad but it wasn't good. Pitiful really. I would never come back. It's not worth the money.
(1)Jenni S.
Ok but needs some work ~ when we there we didn't see anyone who seemed Mexican so maybe that's what's up? They need less MSG and more big flavor in the dishes we tried. For instance the rice was washed out, gummy, and had very little flavor. The service was good but with all the great Mexican places around, you need to step it up to compete.
(3)George D.
I have been to this Amigos location twice. I am sorry to say that I have been disappointed on both visits. On my last visit and probably will be my last visit, I ordered a margarita. It was probably the worst margarita I have ever had. it was just eh, for lack of a better word. My dinner was so uneventful, that I cannot remember what I ordered. The food looked good, but really lacked any characteristic flavors. in my opinion, this is what happens when you have Americans making Mexican food. I Will continue to recommend El Potro in Winter Park. Mexican owned, Mexican run, food prepared by Mexicans, absolutely delightful. Sorry Amigos.
(3)Jacob F.
I love this place!! The service is so nice, they make you feel like family and always welcomed!! The food is great. Not over or under cooked and not greasy like those main chain Tex-mex places. I have been many times, first time checking in and writing a post but I think the deserve it. We always go with a large party and we always leave very satisfied!!!! I see some bad review from a while ago, I will say my first time was a few months ago, so maybe they have gotten better. Give it another try! My family I always go with did say for a while they kind of lost it but they got it back, that's why they took me;)
(5)Jon B.
While I've heard rumors that Amigos was great back in the day, this has certainly not been my experience during my visits of the course of the past couple of years. Amigos is best described as "mehhh"... slightly better then Taco Bell, not heavy on your wallet, and sufficient to satisfy your monthly craving for Mexican food. The restaurant itself is very dated, though they have a couple of newer-ish flat screen tvs that constantly run sports center (okay so I bumped them a star for fulfilling my lunchtime sports update). Staff has always been friendly and prompt during my lunchtime visits. After being seated you are immediately presented with a basket of chips and small cup of salsa (not the best, but certainly something to snack on while awaiting your food). They offer 1-2 lunch specials a day for $5.99, ranging from the taco salad, tacos, tamale and several others. Most lunch meals come with beans and rice, again nothing special just average. While I have never boozed during lunchtime amigos is always promoting their various drink specials. Overall - average to below average Mexican food served at an affordable price with a smile. Looking for great Mexican cuisine, check out los dos amigos or cocina... looking for a Mexican "taste" without emptying your wallet, check out Amigos!!

Terrible service! Our orders came in incorrectly and the manager came over and was very rude to us. She was a female manager that has only been here a year. We didn't catch her name. I have never experienced the rude way she was speaking to customers, one of them being my mother. This, mixed with the food mistakes, made our dinner tonight one we won't forget. But in the way that it's going to be a lonnnnng time before we come back having been treated like this.
(1)Anthony I.
More salsa please! Eating here is great. the moment you walk in you are brought nice crispy chips and some yummy salsa. Eating there is preferred because you get unlimited salsa. And I pretty much drink it. Actually I literally have lifted up the small saucer and drank it. Oh ya the food. Thats pretty good too. I always order the same thing though. Which is chicken quesadilla's. And they're always good. This time we got it to go and ordered Nell's Nachos. Ahhhh... Not impressed. I wont be ordering it again. My better half typically orders different stuff. No complaints about trying some of hers. Tonight she ordered a chicken taco salad. That was pretty awesome. I told her when she placed the order to order extra salsa. Not just a big pint, but a butt load of salsa. In fact tell them you want a mother**** bucket of it.. I guess she didnt word it that way. Since they only gave us two containers of it. Which honestly isnt enough. Its that good. Every time we dine in the food comes very fast. We've never had to wait for our order. Some staff is friendly. Others are just there to do the minimum, but thats fine, the job gets done with no complaints. I highly recommend.

As a frequent visitor to Amigo's, I must say by far they are my favorite tex mex restaurant. The food is outstanding, especially their homemade salsa and their queso. Service is amazing, as I've never had a problem with any of their servers. If you're looking for a Tex Amex restaurant with reasonable prices and amazing service, I definitely recommend this restaurant.
(5)Gabe M.
I'm struggling to find the positive things to say about this place, because I never like to leave negative rants about places I go to. I'll start off by saying that my boyfriend really enjoyed his BBQ chicken quesadilla...and ate the whole thing. Service was very prompt...and the waiters helped each other out as needed. I ordered the cup of queso blanco which didn't seem...quiet right. It tasted a little sweet, and maybe something you'd buy from the grocery store in a jar. Maybe I'm just spoiled by real queso blanco, like the one served at Cocina 214? I ordered the grilled chicken, with broccoli and Spanish rice. I received chicken smothered with cheese, no broccoli, received beans and Spanish rice. I decided not to send it back and just try it with the cheese scraped off. The chicken was very tough and dry, like when you refrigerate chicken and then reheat it in the microwave. The refried beans had an odd taste to them as well...slightly soapy? The Spanish rice was really good, and I really enjoyed the size of the huge tortilla chips to dip in the salsa. I used the bathroom and was horrified. That's all I will say about the bathroom. I will never come back here.
(2)Joyce P.
The food here is great. I've lived in Texas and this place serves pretty good Tex/Mex by comparison. I like the enchiladas. Sometimes the refried beans are slightly watered down but the complimentary warm chips and salsa and always savory. The queso dip is to die for! Prices are fair. Enjoy!
(4)Digital B.
Amigo's is a steadfast restaurant for Tex/Mex food. They have some of the best salsa in the area and their chips are always fresh. My favorite dish is the fajitas or their giant burrito. Service can be slow when they get busy and I've had a few experiences where the food came out cold but over all I think they still are a decent place to consider. Parking is ample but during the dinner crowd it can get slammed. Prices are reasonable too.
(3)Justin W.
Hands down best Mexican in central florida. Friendly and helpful staff. Great selection of drinks. Try the habenero salsa.
(5)Michael O.
It was warm Florida night. Our club teams had just gone 1-1-1. College prospects all around. We were hungry. I mean hungry like a bear looking at food dangling from a tree. The first thing we tasted was the "salsa". It was at that moment that I decide not to order anything from the menu and stick to the 2 for 1 margaritas. We had read the reviews. ... should have trusted them. Waitress was cute and helpful. Service was great. Food = Negative 17.
(1)Nikki H.
Positives: 1) The guy who served us was on top of his job and we never had to wait long for anything we asked for. 2) The food came up super fast and was hot and steamy. However, the food was very bland. I found myself comparing it to plain white sandwich bread. It really had no flavor at all starting with the salsa and ending with the chicken fajitas. Also, just an FYI they don't have any seafood (Elsewhere I would have typically ordered a fajita combo with shrimp, but that wasn't an option). Now the beverages.... I probably could get over the bland food if I had an awesome cocktail to wash it down with, but sadly, the margaritas tasted like pure sweet & sour mix and nothing more. FYI they do not have a bar but they do serve liquor. Overall I gave this place one star because the food and drinks were so undesirable.
(1)Amanda W.
I ATE MY WEIGHT IN QUESO! I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 15 years. Yes, the decor has not changed at all in that time and does look very dingy, but the food and service remain the same - great! I ordered the Blanco Queso with chips and salsa and ate so much I barely had room for my entree. I also had the Tulia Style Burritos - 2 bean burritos smothered in a red sauce with cheese, beans and rice on the side. It was delicious and filling, with left overs for lunch! I also got the Strawberry Surprise for dessert, a fried tortilla stuffed with strawberries and whipped cream. It was so delicious. I've read a lot of other reviews complaining about the service. My waitress was great, friendly and attentive. Also - 2 for 1 drinks Wednesdays! Side note: I despise spicy food, and have never gotten anything spicy here. If you like a kick be sure to ask for extra hot sauce.
(4)B S.
Don't bother! Let's start with the salsa, shall we? I've had better salsa out of a can! (If that's possible) The food is not worth half a star. The service? I've had better at Burger King, which is not saying much at all. In other words, stay away!
(1)Jim W.
The location is hard to get into but the location staff is great.the food was good and very well priced and a lot of great choices to have. The staff is top and work very hard to please the customers. Had large group and were seated in a short period of time. What I like about this the management is local and are involved in the operation and it shows in the quality of the food. Keep up the good job and know we will be back
(4)John M.
I will agree that this place once was better than it currently is, but I still think it's pretty good. I've been coming here for years, since I was probably about 12 or 13 years old. I always get the fajitas, and they do skimp a little on the portions, but it's still enough for me to feel full. The salsa tastes fine to me, though we usually add some salt to it. The chips are just broken taco shells, and that's pretty cool to me. The service has never been bad and the prices are pretty good. Not cheap but not super expensive either. I don't really see any problems with this place.
(4)Danny T.
This place really sucks. Food very poor quality and service same very expensive for what we got if I could give this place smaller than a one star I would
(1)Tim R.
Let me start by saying that the food was not bad. It was typical tex-mex. However, my wife and I have arguably never had worse service than this. If my warning posted here keeps you from having to suffer through service that was not only inept, but down right degrading.... this effort will be worth it. Please save yourself the pain and suffering of dealing with these folks. First of all... we were seated in a booth by a passing waitress (No host on staff), where we then were greated by a waiter (Fred) who took our drink order and brought us some chips and salsa. We are enjoying our afternoon and our soda orders. All is well, right? Wrong. 35 minutes have now passed. 35! We've seen Fred walk around the restaurant a few times while talking on his cell phone... Another table next to us has waited the same amount of time to get their check. They came over and asked if we had even gotten to place our order. We said no and they asked why we hadn't walked out. We should have. After one of the waitresses saw the stir, they appropriately went and got the manager on duty. The other table was immediately given their check and got out of there too quick to have left any sort of tip. The manager (a 20 something year old female) told us that there was a problem with our waiter's employee number in their system... which was why he couldn't help anyone. So she basically said, "Sorry you are upset, but here is the excuse of why everyone else was left alone for 35 minutes." She apologized again and asked what we wanted to eat. My wife had some questions about the menu. The manager had no idea of what kind of sauces were available on their menu. She then placed our order. About 15 minutes later, our food came out. The order was wrong... as the manager hadn't even written down the order. Not to mention, our waiter then thought we had complained on him... giving subpar service to us the remainder of the meal. Two older couples came in (in their 50's at least) and were not only greeted with enthusiasm... but given every single thing... they were even given napkins before they had any food. We never even got refills or any sort of accommodation. I asked for a to-go box... getting a check from our waiter 20 minutes later as he was too busy catering to the older couples (we are in our twenties and our business obviously wasn't worth the effort). We got the bill. No discount. Not even a "We're really sorry this went so badly" from the staff or management. It wasn't even worth the fight at this point. We had been treated like criminals or like we had done something wrong. Tried to pay the bill with a Discover card. They dont take Discover. Hey, that's fine.... but don't walk away again for another 10 minutes just because you hate us for no reason! 2 hours and $30 poorer..... we walked away disgusted that service could be that bad. I am literally shocked. But hey, we are just 20 something year old married kids who obviously don't deserve a reasonable explanation for why this meal went so poorly. Age discrimination is just as bad as any other. I will always remember how bad I felt at this place of business. I hope you avoid that feeling and skip this poorly managed excuse of a business. No one deserves to be treated like a second-class citizen... I hope they realize that bad business practice catches up with your customer base. I wish I would've read some of these reviews before I stepped foot in there. We're obviously not the only ones who have experienced this.
(1)Michael B.
I bring my family here to eat 2-3 times a year and tonight wasn't as good. The chips were too plain... no salt at all. Quesadillas were soggy. They said it's because of the chicken they use. Comped that meal. Fried ice cream was awesome and our server was great. Very friendly and attentive.
(3)Rebecca V.
The food is decent, but the selection is rather lacking (especially for vegetarians). The service is good and the prices are reasonable. The ambiance is fun and they actually play Mexican music rather than generic Latin songs. They also have outdoor seating, which is nice. The quality of the food is overall a bit dull (for example, when they say a bean burrito they literally mean just beans, cheese, and a tortilla). The chips and salsa were good, but how can you really mess that up? In summary, if you happen to be in the area and in the mood for some Tex-Mex, stop by, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for this place.
(3)Colleen B.
May I begin with 3 things that may save you from reading this entire review: #1 - Dirty, scary Fred was our waiter (reminded me of a really dirty dwight from The Office, I would put $ on it that it is his creepy cousin) #2 - The salsa tasted like pureed 2 week old tomato #3 - Little kids kicking the booths behind and beside us, I pounded back cause well...I am an adult =) If you still may want to check this place out after those little insights...read on The overall theme is Texas which is cool but everything is just real dingy. Pretend Denny's turned Mexican (but not carpeted floors). Fred got one of our orders wrong and yelled to the other waiter across the place if it was someone else's order, which it was and he came back with the correct order from the back. I feel bad for the person who got that because Liz definitely forked through it - good thing she doesn't have cooties. I have to say though, my opened faced shredded beef burritos were pretty on point! Juicy meat with melted cheese, onions and peppers...YUM! Other than that, not the best experience. I am def with Janene that I used to remember this place being good...wonder what happened =(
(2)Loren K.
AMIGOS is an awesome place for Mexican! I love the Del Rio Burrito! Great chips and salsa the second you sit down. Nice big bowl of salsa I might add. Some places are really skimpy with the salsa but not Amigos. Fast service always!
(5)Mark P.
This place is Great. Been a loyal customer for years. Love that salsa. The Cozumel is my go to choice but the new barbeque quesadillas are awesome. Server on this last visit was overloaded with tables so he didn't have time for small talk or whatever but he totally got everything out fast and right. No real complaints. I miss the old UCF location.
(4)Stephen G.
Great food and only Tex-Mex you'll find in the area. Salsa needs some work but everything else is spot on!
(4)Cheryl S.
I remember this restaurant being very good years ago. We went the other night and it was just okay.
(2)Jenna W.
After passing by quite a few times, me and the bf decided to give this place a shot...and after living in Texas for a few years, we are experienced in tex-mex. Unfortunately, most of the food tastes microwaved and out of the can. The service was great but sad to say the food just fell way too short.
(1)Gus F.
Ok, I saw where this place held the Foodie Award for best Tex Mex in Orlando for 2011....so off we went. We got there and were seated promptly and ordered beers which, luckily, happened to be 2 for 1. So far so good. My girlfriend(a died in the wool guacamole addict) ordered the (I'm shocked) guacamole and said it was very good. I tasted it, it was. I had the tortilla soup and it was good, as well, I ordered the chicken nachos and was average at best. I mean, seriously, it tasted like something out of the box at the grocery store. Seriously not impressed. The service was slow. Each time we needed something, I had to keep an eye out for the waiter(a guy, don't remember his name) to bring us *anything.* I don't know why, but I just simply didn't feel this place. I find Tijuana Flats to be better. But the best Tex Mex in Orlando? Damn.
(2)Sandee L.
We got warm beer and margaritas served in thick heavy glassware, rimmed with table salt. The guacamole was great, the salsa tasted of tin. My carne asada was a tiny piece of some chewy cheap cut of meat, way overcooked. Everything was horrible and overpriced. Never again.
(1)Joshua G.
Great food great service what more can I say. I highly recommend Amigo's, Their new management seems to really have turned the place around.
(5)Daniel M.
I remember when Amigo's opened back in the late 80s/early 90s. The food was fresh. The service was decent. You could count on a 2 hour wait to get in, an incredible meal, and an opportunity to speak with the owner. Back then, I would have given this restaurant a solid 4-5 stars. Since then, Amigos has become a chain. I go there once per year hoping that the food will be as good as I remembered years ago, and I leave disappointed after eating a meal that tastes like reheated leftovers from a day before. Maybe next year. . .

This used to be pretty GOOD, even GREAT, but "used to be" is the key. Let me just say that my six-year olds still LOVE it because they make Macaroni and Cheese with a hot dog here, but as far as I am concerned, other than the Sangria (which is pretty tasty), "she ain't what she used to be". The restaurant needs a face lift, the menu needs a kick and the staff needs some enthusiasm. I give them another year before the "Closed" sign is on the door. Just sayin'!! The crowds aren't what they used to be ... although Cinco de Mayo was pretty busy.

Unfortunately, I am starting off this review with saying I wasn't impressed...at ALL. I've been to Amigos (quite a few times might I add) but I guess it's been a while since I've been and I'm not sure what happened. Our waiter was gross. He was slow, inattentive, messed up my order-- thumbs down. The complimentary chips and salsa gets another thumbs down. First of all, the chips were old tasting and pretty much flavorless. The salsa? Yuck. I think the first thing I asked was "does anyone else think this salsa tastes like ketchup?" I'm pretty sure salsa should not = ketchup. I ordered the brisket quesadillas and besides the fact that he mixed up my order, they were pretty good. So, no complaints there but I definitely wasn't impressed and probably wouldn't go back again.

It's pretty hard to make simple Mexican, or in this case Tex Mex, wrong, but this place was all wrong. The salsa was terrible and the queso dip tasted like that canned chili and Velveeta dip you can make in the microwave. Wouldn't waste my time with this place.

Can't beat their $5 lunch special. The tacos were large and full and the chips fresh.

Went here recently with my boyfriend on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! The food was good everything came out quickly and was fresh, the quacamole was great as well and Im a big quacamole fan! Good customer service and the frozen margaritas and frozen sangria swirl was the best! I am not really a frozen drink kinda gal but these were awesome. The next time I am in the area I will definitely give it another try!

This used to be a nice place to eat, however, in the past few years it has gone downhill. As an example, the wife and I ordered queso dip this weekend and I'm all but convinced it was leftover Velvetta just stuck in the microwave. With all of the decent Mexican places around, I can get much better food for the same price. Unfortunately, I think I've made my last visit to Amigos. Sorry to see you go....

Awesome chips and salsa and their chicken fajitas are the best. Amazing desserts and prices, and portions are great. Beef could be better though. Stick with the chicken if you can.

Tasteless food, tasteless salsa and corn chips. This is not Mexican food at all. Taco Bell or Chipotle taste more like authentic Mexican. Bad experience visiting this place.

I agree with most of Nikki H's review. The food was very bland. The salsa had almost no flavor and my tacos al carbon were almost tasteless. No one at my table seemed to really enjoy their meal. We were seated promptly, the food did come very fast and was hot, and the margaritas and sangrias were okay so I give them two stars instead of just one.

We moved here from Chicago and were looking for a good mexican restaurant and found our favorite already! This family owned business is friendly, has great service and the food is excellent! Mark, the owner, has a wonderful table side manner and makes us feel special every time we visit. We eat at Amigos at least once a week, if not more!!! If you haven't tried it yet, you are really missing out on a great place! They have it all!
